History Repeats
© Bill Gaunce
Take cover everyone
It's clear to every mother's son
These ain't the chimes of freedom
We hear ringin'
The prize goes to who takes the most
For the Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost
And it's not the voice of angels
We hear singin'
You make a choice, don't say a word
A guilty silence is loudly heard
And the sound that I'm not hearing now
Is deafening
History repeats, Same ol' song, same ol' dance
History repeats, Maybe peace and love
Deserve another chance
It's plain as day, dark as night
It's complicated, black and white
Disguised, another boring
Armageddon
Will more than hateful words be hurled?
Will there be a shot hear 'round the world?
The future is not written
Don't you let them
While I'm spinning dizzy
And you spin your hunch
The henhouse host the fox for lunch
And the sponsors have their hands out
For a cover
History repeats, Same ol' song, same ol' dance
History repeats, Maybe peace and love
Deserve another chance
I wrote this song just for you
You left, right, black,, white, Muslim, Jew
Leave your hatred at the door
And join me singin'
You make a choice, don't say a word
A guilty silence is loudly heard
And the sound that I'm not hearing now
Is deafening
History repeats, Same ol' song, same ol' dance
History repeats, Maybe peace and love
Deserve another chance
